On October 24, 2023, visiting scholars, teachers, and doctoral students from the China Urban Research Center (PCC) visited the headquarters of the renowned Research Triangle Park (RTP) in North Carolina. The core objective of this visit was to learn from RTP’s advanced experience in urban planning and technological innovation, as well as its role in promoting sustainable economic and social development in the region.

As a globally recognized hub for high-tech research and development, RTP’s successful experiences in urban planning, technological innovation, and industrial development provide a valuable learning opportunity for the members of the China Urban Research Center. The visiting delegation delved into how RTP successfully integrates high-tech enterprises, educational institutions, and government agencies, and the profound impact of this model on urban development.

During the visit, scholars from the China Urban Research Center toured exhibitions at RTP headquarters that detailed the park’s development history, operational model, and innovation strategies. Additionally, they engaged in discussions with RTP’s planners and managers about integrating high-tech elements into urban planning, and how innovation can drive the economic and social development of a city.
