Biography
Xin Nie holds a PhD in land resource management, a MSc in population, resources and environmental economics, and a BS in environmental sciences. He has chaired two projects under the National Natural Science Foundation of China. The first concerned the discrimination strategy of land resources space development intensity and the trans-regional eco-compensation mechanism under the Framework of Major Function-Oriented Zone Planning. The second involved research on landless peasants‘ mutidimensional welfare variation and capability approach built in rural-urban land conversion. He also helped manage an Asian Development Bank project about land use change simulation and training in the Guangxi province, one of eight areas where the project was held.
