Zhihao Yao is a Ph.D candidate at the Department of Urban Planning in Tongji University in Shanghai. He received his master’s degree in 2011 and worked as urban planner afterwards for two years. He was qualified as National Certified Planner in 2013 and then returned to college for his doctoral studies. Yao has internship experiences in Urban Planning & Land and Resources Bureau and Urban Renewal Bureau, and has attended summer school at University of Illinois at Chicago and Hong Kong University. Yao’s research interest focus on urban renewal, as well as urban-rural land use in China. He had participated in writing chapters for two books, and issued three articles. He has been a Visiting Scholar at the Program on Chinese Cities since October 2015.
