Abstract:

In recent years, successful renovation projects especially in old city core areas in China are very often to be found in different cities from north to south as Internet celebrity check-in places (Wang Hong Da Ka Di ). Such as Beijing FANG in the Qianmen area, Xintiandi in Shanghai, MIX World in Shenzhen…

The renovation project on the west side of Qinian Street in Peking was beginning from 2007 but has never finished till now. As I have already worked on this project for about 5 years, the task for the planning department is to work together with all of the other departments of the developer, to reach the demands of the developer, which is trying to change the zoning into pure residential area with a highest density. In the meantime, our plan should also meet the requirements of  Beijing government, the planning Bureau, and the newest planning regulation of the core area in Beijing from the year 2020. There is a huge gap between developers and government requirements because the building density in Beijing should be more and more reduced than ever from the year 2018. Everybody knows the reason why. But still, brave urban planners like us will play a subtle role in helping to make the project come true, although we all know that it is a mission impossible.
